Heroes of antiquity
“Alexander the Great, Scipio the African, Marc Anthony, Titus and Vespasian or Constantine, the heroes of Antiquity are figures who draw crowds to the cinema, captivate children and fascinate researchers.
The Museum Rath is offering an approach to them through the magnificent 17th century tapestries from the Toms Pauli Foundation in Lausanne and from the Museum of Art and History’s own collection, most of which have been in storage for over fifty years and have undergone conservation treatment specially for the occasion.
Set against objects from Antiquity – statues, intaglios, prints, books, coins, etc. – these tapestries enable us to appreciate today the interest taken in these great figures in the era of Louis XIV and to understand the messages they convey.”
The exhibition will take place at the Musée Rath between the 29th of November 2013 and the 2nd of March 2014.
Our clients are welcome to contact CBH in order to get invitations for the opening night on Wednesday the 28th of June at 6pm.
